2022 12/29 – Kenneth Earl ‘Doc’ Easton

Kenneth Earl “Doc” Easton, 89, of Patoka, passed away Saturday, December 24, 2022.

He was born on January 13, 1933, the son of Harry and Flora (Houston) Easton in Patoka. He married Martha F. “Moe” McWhirter on June 18, 1960, in Patoka.

Survivors include his beloved family, children Kenny Easton of Alma, and Kim Orrell and husband Dwain of Vernon; grandchildren Cassie Huffman and husband Jeff, Ethan Easton and wife Catie, Jacob Orrell, and Travis Orrell and wife Rachel; great-grandchildren River, Piper, Tucker, and Nolan; brother Art Easton of Patoka; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Doc was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Martha “Moe” Easton; brother Bill Easton; and son Kevin Easton.

Mr. Easton was a United States Army veteran. He farmed for 65 years, appreciating the opportunity to work the land during planting season and being thankful for each productive harvest. He was active in the community of Patoka which he called home since birth, serving as Fire Chief and being a helping hand to anyone in need. Doc and Moe were a wonderful example of a loving marriage, enjoying time to travel, especially their winters in Texas. He was a talented clockmaker, woodworker, and deck designer. Doc was especially proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who filled his heart with love every time he saw them. Doc will forever be remembered as a pillar of the community, a hard-working family provider, and the best father, grandfather, brother, and friend.

Services will be held at noon Thursday, Dec 29, 2022, at the Day Macz Funeral Home in Patoka. Interment will follow at the Patoka City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 till his noon funeral service Thursday at the Day Macz Funeral Home in Patoka. Memorials may be made in Doc’s honor to the Patoka Fire and EMS.
