Marion County Highway Engineer Mike McCormick says Marathon Oil has requested to close the Martin Road in rural Alma to all traffic between Alma Hatchery and Oak Grove Road beginning Tuesday until further notice.
McCormick says the closure is for permanent repairs to the oil line leak or break that occurred earlier this month as well as for site remediation. He reports a section of the 20-inch pipeline will be cut out that involves the casing that takes the line under the Martin Road.
McCormick has been told the work should take a maximum of two weeks to complete.
