2022 12/23 – Wilma Atheline King

Wilma Atheline King, 93, of Centralia passed away Sunday, December 18, 2022, at Fireside House in Centralia. She was born on January 20, 1929, the daughter of Herman and Nora (Timmons) Walker in Dix. She married Thomas Tate and three children were born in this union, they later divorced. She married Freddie King and they divorced.

Survivors include her beloved daughter, Donna Boyd and husband Gary of Centralia, and Elaine Deadmond of Centralia; grandchildren Nathan Boyd of St. Louis, and Cassie Deadmond of Fairview Heights; sisters Vera Piercy and husband Jerry of Centralia, and Ruth Allen of Georgia; sister-in-law Jo Alice Walker of Dix; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Wilma was preceded in death by her parents Herman and Nora Walker; siblings Charles Walker, Neva McLemore, and Thelma Nelson; son Michael Allen Tate; son-in-law Ray Deadmond; and brother-in-law Verneil Allen.

Wilma was dedicated to providing her customers with the best as owner and operator of Centralia Steam Laundry for twenty-seven years. Wilma worked for the company for sixteen years, prior to owning, working hard to provide the best support for her children. She was a member of Boyd Christian Church. Wilma appreciated the simple things in life and loved to spend quiet time in the comfort of her home. She will be remembered for the way she doted on her grandchildren, always so proud to be their Nana. Wilma’s gracious, kind, hardworking, loving spirit will never be forgotten.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 23, 2022, at the Hillcrest Lakeside Mausoleum Chapel. Interment will follow. Friends and relatives are welcome to a visitation time from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, December 22, 2022, at the Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia. Memorials may be made in Wilma’s honor to the SSM Hospice or the Ronald McDonald House.
