2022 12/11 – Edward G. Hendrix

Edward G. Hendrix, age 88 of Salem, passed away at St. Louis University Hospital on Tuesday, December 6, 2022.

Edward was born on April 3, 1934, in Mattoon, Kentucky the son of Thomas G. and Alma Gusta (Farley) Hendrix.  He married Peggy Jo Lynn on May 13, 1967, in Morganfield, Kentucky and she preceded him in death on May 9, 2017.

He is survived by his children, Joseph Edward Hendrix of Salem and Sherry Hendrix Lawrence and husband Terry of Gladewater, TX; grandchildren, Shelby Smith WI, James Edward Lawrence of TX, Robert Lawrence and wife Crystal Guyette of WI, Trisha Wawczak and husband Chad of IL, and Sara Banga of TX; and a sister, Shirley Hendrix Boorman of Longview, TX.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a granddaughter, Kristina Lawrence; and three sisters.

Ed was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and retired from World Color Press after 44 years as First Pressman.  He enjoyed roller skating, ice skating, and spending time with family and friends.  He loved the outdoors, animals, being around children, helping anyone in need, attending air shows, playing Santa at the skating rink, and being a Mr. Fix-it. Ed was loved by everyone who knew him and was the best Dad his children could have had.

Celebration of Life Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, December 11, 2022, at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem with Claude Howell officiating.  Burial will follow at Paradise Cemetery in Salem.  Visitation will be from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Saturday at the funeral home.  Memorials can be made to the family and can be received at Crouse Funeral Home which is assisting the family with arrangements.  Online condolences can be left at www.CrouseFH.com
