Marion County reports 32 new COVID-19 cases; 17 in school-age children

More than half the new COVID-19 cases being reported in Marion County from Saturday through Wednesday were in school-age children.   There were no additional deaths, with the number of COVID-19 deaths since the pandemic began placed at 160.

The health department is reporting 32 new cases during the five-day period, 17 of them in school-age children.  One of the cases is in a child four years and younger.   None were long-term care residents.    18 of the cases are considered community spread, while the 14 others were spread from household or close contacts.   Four of the new cases are fully vaccinated.

active cases in Marion County, including 15 in the hospital.  Of those in the hospital, one is an infant, two in the 40s, three in their 50s, four in their 60s, four in their 70s, and one in their 80s.   One is on a ventilator.  None are long-term care residents.
