A 20 by 25 foot shed on the Mary Henderson property at 70-77 Quail Run Road in rural Iuka was destroyed during a Thanksgiving Day Fire.
Iuka Fire Chief Kenny Eagan says Henderson looked outside when hearing a noise and saw the building completely engulfed in flames. He reports the shed was already on the ground upon their arrival.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. A lawnmower, UTV, and lumber inside the building were also a total loss.
The fire call came in at one Thursday afternoon with firemen on the scene for about an hour. Firemen wet down leaves in the area to keep the fire from spreading to several other nearby outbuildings.
Salem firemen were called for mutual aid, but canceled when the first Iuka Firemen on the scene determined there was no way to save the building.
