Thanksgiving Community Dinners being held in both Salem and Centralia

By Bruce Kropp Nov 24, 2021 | 9:44 PM

Both Salem and Centralia groups are offering free Thanksgiving Dinners to all in need or who would otherwise be alone.

In both cases, carryout and dining will be offered.

In Salem, organizer Tammy Foltz is anticipating they could serve up to 550 dinners, up from 350 reserved last year.  40 to 50 volunteers will help prepare the meals at the Grace Church of the Nazarene.  You can call 618-548-0881 to request carry out, delivery, or to make a reservation, although they are not required.

The Centralia Community Dinner will be at the Poplar Place on North Poplar Street.  They anticipate serving 1,500 people, up from one thousand last year.   You can dine-in or carry out.  To have carry-outs ready, you can call 618-532-1747.   Community members have donated hams and turkeys and all the fixings for the dinner.
