Odin Firemen work to put out a fire that consumed an older camper in rural Odin Wednesday morning.

A 41-year-old rural Odin man has been arrested by Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies for arson in connection with a fire that destroyed an older camper owned by his father.

Odin Fire Chief Greg Smith says the camper was fully engulfed in flames when they arrived in the 2000 block of Kingshighway.     Chad Brown, who was taken into custody for allegedly starting the fire, was sitting on the ground nearby.   He refused to tell Smith how the fire started.  There were no injuries.

The owner of the camper, Ronnie Johnston, said it had been bought used and had little value.

Firemen say they received the call around 8:40 Wednesday morning.  They were called back about an hour and a half later after the fire had rekindled in a nearby wooded area.

Brown was taken to the Marion County Jail where he remained awaiting a decision on formal charges.
