Both drivers were killed in a head-on collision on US 50 at St. Rose Road in Clinton County during the noon hour on Tuesday.
Preliminary details from State Police say a vehicle driven by 51-year-old Tracy Loyd of Okawville was traveling eastbound on US 50 just east of St. Rose Road when it crossed the centerline and hit a westbound car on US 50 driven by 20-year-old Michael Brown of Trenton. The Brown car caught fire after the crash.
Both Loyd and Brown were pronounced dead on the scene.
The crash occurred at 12:42 Tuesday afternoon. US 50 reopened to traffic about three hours later.
State Police say the crash remains under investigation.
