A car stolen from a Centralia man crashed in Walnut Hill late Saturday night with the driver fleeing on foot.
Initial information indicates the 2013 Kia Optima owned by Garrett Furlong of East Calumet Street in Centralia was taken while he was watching a garage fire in the 700 block of South Pine.
The sheriff’s department was called after the car crashed at Main and Harrison Street in Walnut Hill around 11:20 Saturday evening. Witnesses say the driver took off with the car still running, but they were not certain if he was on foot.
