Marion County Health Department reporting 12 new COVID-19 cases on Friday

The Marion County Health Department is reporting an additional 12 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday.  None of the new positive cases had been vaccinated.     There were no new deaths.

There are now 183 active cases in the county, with nine in the hospital.  One is a teen, four are in their 50s, two in their 60s, and one apiece in their 70s and 80s.

Of the 12 new cases in Marion County, half were in school age children, and two are four years old and younger.  None were long term care residents.  Six of the cases are considered community spread and six are from household or close contacts.

There were 32 released from isolation on Friday.

In Jefferson County, there have been 49 new cases since Wednesday and 82 in isolation

In Wayne County, there has been one additional death during the past week, bringing the total number of COVID-19 related deaths to 64.  There have been 2 new cases and a total of 57 in isolation this Monday through Thursday.

Statewide, there were 28,280 new cases during the week ending Friday along with 150 additional deaths.   The number of cases were up 25-percent from the prior week.  Of Illinois’ total population, approximately 67-percent has received at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose and almost 61-percent of Illinois’ total population is fully vaccinated.
