A 34-year-old Salem man faces a new charge of criminal damage to government supported property after he allegedly kicked the rear door of a Salem Police squad car while being taken to jail.
Steven Schultz of East Locust was arrested by Salem Police after he allegedly stole money from a tip jar and fled the China King restaurant without paying his bill. He was located at another nearby restaurant.
Schultz was also arrested on other charges following incidents earlier in the week. They include residential burglary and criminal damage to a home on Boone Street where he allegedly kicked in a door. He was also arrested for criminal damage to a home he allegedly damaged during a domestic dispute on East Locust Street. Those charges are all still pending.
Bond for Schultz was set at $10,000. He had the public defender appointed to represent him.
