Donna Timmons, 75, of Sandoval passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2022, surrounded by the love and tender care of her family at her son’s home in Patoka.
She was born on January 2, 1947, the daughter of Nick and Ruth (Rippy) Basola in Sandoval. She had two children with her former husband Bill Timmons.
Survivors that will remember Donna’s dedication to her family include her devoted family, son Craig Timmons and wife Misty of Patoka; daughter Christy Phipps and husband Steve of Sandoval; grandchildren Trevor, Ariel, Nicole and husband Jake, Lexus, Bailey husband Blake, Brandon, Jace; great-grandchildren Brett, Gunnar, Rhett, Ross, Kailah, Hadlee, Zaylee, Kazan, and expecting another great-grand baby in February; siblings Joe Basola and wife Judy of Decatur, and Barbara Sullivan of Sandoval; brother-in-law Tom Holstlaw of Sandoval; sister-in-law Mary Basola of Sandoval and a host of special nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents; sister Ruth “Teddy” Holstlaw; brother Lewis Basola.
Donna was raised with a strong work ethic and was never afraid to roll up her sleeves and get to work. She was a welcome sight in the cafeteria to the grateful students at Sandoval High School, where she served up amazing meals as a cook for 35 years. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Odin. Donna was a loyal friend who loved to lend a listening ear over a good cup of coffee. She was thankful for all the fun get-togethers with her card club and the ladies she traveled to bingo games with, in the hope of winning a homemade quilt. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan cheering them on to a win from the comfort of her favorite chair. Donna was a talented baker who loved to share her delicious hot rolls and cheesecake with family and friends. She was the Hallmark channel’s biggest fan and recruited others to sit, slow down and enjoy a good movie with her. Donna was a special lady who instinctively put others needs before her own, loved her family with all her heart, and was a true joy to be around.
A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 19, 2022, at the Day Macz Funeral Home in Sandoval with Pastor Ray Barnes officiating. Friends and relatives are welcome to a visitation time from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the funeral home.
