Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputies have released details on the arrest of a 23-year-old Salem man on an outstanding burglary warrant.

Jefferson County officials say Tristan Rankin is wanted in connection with an October 11th burglary at the Southern Illinois Fair and Expo grounds on North Wells Bypass in rural Mt. Vernon.   He allegedly stole a John Deere tractor from one of the buildings.

Jefferson County worked with Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies to locate and recover the tractor at an address on Robin Road east of Salem.  Rankin became a suspect after video from the Expo grounds showed a license plate number connected back to Rankin.

Information was then submitted to the Jefferson County State’s Attorney’s office and a warrant was issued for Rankin’s arrest with bond set at $30,000.   Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies later took him into custody.
