The Marion County Health Department is reporting 66 new COVID-19 cases over the weekend and Monday and Tuesday. Those testing positive include 12 who are fully vaccinated. There were no additional deaths during the four day period.
Health Department Administrator Melissa Mallow says school age children have been hit particularly hard during the past four days, with 21 of the total 66 cases. None were long term care residents. 42 of the new cases are considered community spread and 24 as a result of household or close contacts.
There are now 126 active cases in the county, including six who are hospitalized. None of those in the hospital are on ventilators. Those in the hospital include three in their 50s, one in their 60s, 1 in the 70s and one n their 80s.
Fayette County is reporting two new deaths last week, with the total number of deaths during the pandemic up to 67. There were 47 new COVID-19 cases reported last week.
Jefferson County is recording 29 new cases over the four day period with 46 total positive cases as of Tuesday.
Washington County is reporting two new cases from Saturday through Monday.
