The former Commanding officer at the Naval Weapons Station in Yorktown, as well as USS Wasp and USS Ogden and retired Centralia City Manager Lowell Crow will be the guest speaker at the Veterans Day program Thursday morning at the VFW in Centralia.
The event will also see several local veterans inducted into the Court of Honor for their service.
The program begins at 10:30 Thursday morning at the VFW at 1826 Pine Street in Centralia. Everyone is invited to attend. The annual event is sponsored by the Sutherland Garnier Funeral Home and Hillcrest Memorial Park.
There is no program in Salem, but the American Legion on East Main will be holding a Chili party beginning at eleven until all the Chili is gone. Veterans eat free. Others are asked for a donation of $5 or more to defray the cost and support the American Legion.
