The playoffs have been in full force this year, and our Southern Illinois football teams are still going strong. Here are the current standings for some surrounding teams:
In Class 1A:
Sesser-Valier lost to Athens (57-28) and will not be moving on.
In Class 2A:
Breese (Mater Dei) beat Johnston City (49-22) and will move on to play Decatur (St. Teresa), who beat Vandalia (68-14), in the Quarterfinals.
Nashville beat Bismarck (33-26) and will move on to play Pana in the Quarterfinals.
In Class 3A:
Mt. Carmel beat Carlinville (54-7) and will move on to play Benton, who beat Monticello (42-12), in the Quarterfinals.
In Class 4A:
Breese Central beat Murphysboro (48-28) and will move on to play Springfield in the Quarterfinals.
Bethalto (Civic Memorial) lost to Springfield (42-7) and will not be moving on.
In Class 5A:
Marion beat Mascoutah (51-21) and will move on to play Kankakee in the Quarterfinals.
