A 32-year-old Mt. Vernon man has been formally charged with three Class X offenses in Jefferson County Court after a search warrant was executed on his home early Thursday morning and drugs and a stolen weapon were recovered.

Bond was set at $200,000 for Demario Bell of 1013 South 7th Street on charges of armed violence, armed habitual criminal, and manufacture or delivery of 15 to 100 grams of cocaine.

Mt. Vernon Police and the Jefferson County Joint Narcotics Unit reportedly found approximately 38 grams of crack cocaine, a loaded handgun, and narcotics packaging materials when executing the search warrant.   Police say the handgun was determined to have been stolen in Centralia.

Bell was arrested for alleged possession of a stolen firearm by a felon, armed habitual criminal, possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance and armed violence.

Bell had the public defender appointed to represent him.
