A 31-year-old Salem man has been found not guilty by reason of insanity in an aggravated battery to police officer case.
Mitchell Anderson of Bob White Lane was charged with shoving a Salem Police officer with both hands to his chest in October of last year.
Before the stipulated bench trial, Judge Mark Stedelin found Anderson fit to stand trial. He then ruled based on the stipulated evidence prosecution had met its burden of proof. But also found based on the presentation by Anderson’s attorney that he was not guilty by reason of insanity.
Anderson was ordered to be taken to the Illinois Department of Human Services for an evaluation. He will return to court on December 15th for a status hearing.
