2022 11/04 – Betty Louise Frazier

Betty Louise Frazier, 95, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 9:45 am on October 29, 2022, at Mt. Vernon Countryside Manor.

She was born April 30, 1927, in East Saint Louis, Illinois to the late Henry Rudolph and Elizabeth “Angie” (Wilson) Egan. Betty married Wendell Hyslop and later married Leroy “Lee” Frazier. They both preceded her in death.

Betty is survived by her son, Robert Hyslop of Mount Vernon, Illinois; daughter, Brenda Mateer and husband, Mike of Sarasota, Florida; grandchildren, Mike Mateer and wife, Dr. Erin, Brian Mateer, and Tracy Johnston; great-grandchildren, Piper, Aria, and Opal; brother, Howard Egan; nieces and nephews, Gary, Janet, Gail, Karen, Mike, and Jason.

In addition to her parents and husbands, Betty was preceded in death by her sisters, Delores Fhurhop and Shirley Murphy.

Betty sold Avon for several years and later sold Golden Rule Insurance. She was a member of the Central Christian Church in Mount Vernon for many years.

A Visitation will be held Friday, November 4, 2022, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 pm with Mr. J. Howard Kraps officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn, Illinois. Memorials may be made in Betty’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association.
