Marshall E. Helm, 72, of Salem, passed away Saturday, October 29, 2022, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Marshall was born October 7, 1950, in Fort Worth, Texas, the son of Melvin Leroy Helm and Winifred (Helstand) Helm. He married Carla Dodson on September 24, 1994, at the Salem Lutheran Church and she survives him in Salem.
In addition to his wife of 28 years, he is also survived by four children: Holly Mansell and husband Phillip of Odin, Cortney Helm-Tate and husband Curtis of Salem, Ashley Helm of Salem, and Kevin Brown of Odin; three grandchildren: Elizabeth Mansell, Zachary Mansell, Emilee Tate and adopted granddaughter Karissa Moore ; two sisters: Ruth Ann Jeter and husband Frank of Texas, and Robin Helm of Salem; three brothers: David Helm and wife Linda of Sikeston, MO, Howard Phillips and wife Cindy of Iuka, and Clifford Phillips and wife Jennie of Salem; and several nieces and nephews.
Marshall was preceded in death by his parents: Melvin and Winifred Helm and his late wife Cheryl Holsapple-Helm.Marshall served in the Air Force and Airforce Reserves and was with the Salem National Guard. He was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church. He enjoyed putting together military planes, going camping, and fly fishing. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Funeral Services for Marshall E. Helm will be held Thursday, November 3, 2022, at 1:00 PM at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia with Pastor Mike Feldmann officiating. The Last Ride Motorcycle Hearse will give Marshall his last ride to East Lawn Cemetery in Salem. A visitation will be held from 12:00-1:00 PM at the Funeral Home on Thursday.
