A 19-year veteran of the Centralia Police Department has been promoted to sergeant. Gary Denton was officially sworn in at Centralia City Hall on Monday. He replaces Jamie Ramsey who retired from the Centralia Police Department to become Central City Police Chief.
Denton had been serving as one of the two school resource officers.
Police Chief Greg Dodson says as sergeant Denton will be moved to oversee the eight pm to eight am patrol officers. Dodson has named Lieutenant Todd Hempen to serve as school resource officer for the remainder of this school year.
The police department is now working towards the higher of four new patrol officers to begin full time police training in January.
