A new exhibit is set to open at the Bryan Bennett Library in Salem on Monday.

Librarian Kim Keller says “The Apollo Experience” will feature Apollo 11 memorabilia.

“A gentlemen from Glen Carbon has collected Apollo 11 memorabilia including a space suit.  So for those of us who grew up in the 70s and 80s and watched the space shuttle program, I think we will completely geek out over this and have a blast with it.  He has several models put together.  The Lunar Module and the launch pad.”

The exhibit put together by Jim and Debra Jones will allow visitors to learn about the first mission during which men walked on the moon.

On opening day, Monday, there will be a reception from 4 to 6 p.m. Visitors will be served moon water and moon treats. There is no admission charge.

The exhibit will be available for viewing during the Library’s regular hours of Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. through the month of November.
