Salem Soccer’s 7th/8th Wrap up their season with a big win

Salem Soccer’s 7th/8th grade team have completed their fall season. Overall, they went 12-2. They scored an impressive 106 goals throughout the season and only allowed 19. They were 8-0 in the SWIS league and won first place in the top division of the Jackson Fall Kickoff this weekend.
They started off the Jackson Fall Kickoff in the mud on Saturday morning, against Fredericktown. Fredericktown got the first goal of the game, but never scored again. Salem bounced back to finish the game 5-1. Then Salem played Desoto United. Salem jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first half. They finished the game with a 3-1 win. On Sunday, they played the Poplar Bluff Shockers. Salem came out and took the early lead. They finished the game 4-1 to clinch First Place.
This season 7th/8th graders had a solid goal keeper in Kyle Keys. Their back line was anchored by Ryegan Warren. Robby Shober made a big impact in the mid field. Austin Woolridge handed out the most assist this season and Caleb Purintun scored the most goals. They were coached by Cory Purintun and Joe Shober.
Coach Joe Shober said, ” The players went 3-0 against some good competition to bring home the hardware. They succeeded throughout the season because of great passing and outstanding defensive work. I’m so proud of the effort the players put in from the beginning of our season, to the end of our last game.”
