Centralia Halloween Parade Chair Jackie Butch Mathus is calling this year a rebuilding year for the Fall Festival and is pleased with how everything came back together following a year off for COVID-19.
Mathus not only had to pull the parade together but also served as Grand Marshal riding at the beginning of the parade route.
“I haven’t gone through a whole route like that since I Marshalled in the 80’s. It was an eye opening experience but it was wonderful. I appreciate the support I’ve received and accolades, but again I really think the whole community and everybody on the parade committee, they should be the grand marshalls of this parade. But tip of a hat to everyone who supported, volunteered and donated to us, we couldn’t do it without you.”
Mathus was impressed with the number of nice floats, noting the scoring was “very tight”. He promises to make improvements for next year’s event as they continue to build back the festival next year.
Mathus was extremely pleased with the number of youngsters that showed up for the Children’s Halloween Parade earlier in the day on Saturday.
