2022 10/28 – Ronald Dean ‘Ron’ Biggs

Ronald Dean “Ron” Biggs, 76, of Centralia passed away Friday, October 21, 2022, at Odin Health Care Center to go home to be with the Lord. He was born on September 16, 1946, the son of Harvey and Bernadette (Regnier) Biggs. He married Mary Gerrish on September 10, 1967, in Centralia and she survives him in Centralia.

Along with his wife of 55 years, Mary Biggs, Ron is survived by his sons, Michael Biggs of Sandoval, and Dean Biggs and wife Sonya of Sandoval; grandson Thomas Regnier “Ren” Biggs of Sandoval; brothers, Donald Biggs of Irvington, and Allen Biggs and wife Sondra “Sonnie” of Salem; and sister Suzette Grimm of Odin.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Bernadette Biggs; sister Carol Fionda; and brother William “Bill” Biggs.

Mr. Biggs served his country with pride in the United States Marine Corps. He was a lifetime member of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 176 and Amvets Post 101 Commander. Ron served as commander of the color guard for local parades. He was a member and volunteer bingo caller for the American Legion Post 446 and VVA Post 176. Ron was a loyal employee of Walgreens Distribution Center in Mt. Vernon for 17 years until his retirement. Ron was of the Baptist faith, who served in the church as a Sunday school teacher, Deacon, sat on the Deacon Board, was part of the Nominating Committee, and sang in the choir. He had a passion for photography and was a past member of the Centralia Light and Lens Club, participating in many photography shows. During his retirement years, Ron kept fit by putting many miles on his bike as an avid cyclist. Ron had a thirst for knowledge, was active in the community, and served others to the best of his abilities.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 28, 2022, at Hillcrest Memorial Park in rural Sandoval with Pastor Mike Hall officiating. All family and friends are encouraged to attend. Memorials may be made in Ron’s honor to the Marine Corp Toys for Tots and will be accepted for the family at the Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia.
