Donald “Don” Louis Middleton, 85, of Centralia, passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at his home.
He was born July 31, 1937, in Los Angeles, California, the son of Louis William Middleton and Helen (Dickinson) Middleton. He married Betty Lou Moore on October 2, 1960, in Salem and she survives.
In addition to his wife of 62 years, Betty Lou Middleton of Centralia, he is also survived by his two sons: Michael Middleton and wife Laveta of Centralia and Mitchell Middleton and wife Lori of Centralia; four grandchildren: Blake Middleton and wife Merl of Irvington, Brandon Middleton of Edwardsville, Magoline Middleton and partner Kait of Springfield, and Rachel Mills and husband Zachary of Evansville, Indiana; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Don was preceded in death by his parents: Louis and Helen Middleton and her sister: Mryna Boles.
Don served in the Army National Guard. He moved to Centralia in 1964. He graduated from Centralia Junior College. He also attended and graduated from SIUC and the University of Wisconsin.
In 1971, Don become the Centralia Township Clerk. Don was the President of Community Trust Bank in Centralia from 1981 until his retirement in 2001. He was a member of several Banking Associations, where he served as Treasurer.Don served as a member of the Board of South Central Transit, Board of Directors of the Centralia Chamber of Commerce, the past President of the Centralia Jaycees, the former President of the United Fund, and a past member of the American Red Cross Board of Directors. He was also a member of the Centralia Elks Lodge 493.
Don enjoyed playing golf. His hobbies included woodworking and golf club repair work. He cherished the time he spent with his wife, children, grandchildren, family, and friends.
A Private Family Service will be held at a later date at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Centralia.
