A 39-year-old rural Salem woman is being held in the Marion County Jail after allegedly robbing the Salem Wendy’s restaurant manager at gunpoint Thursday afternoon.

Salem Police arrested Christina Lewis of Woodard School Road as she was leaving a side door of the restaurant with a loaded pistol and a bag of money.

Salem Police received a 911 call from another employee arriving for work at 2:49 Thursday afternoon when she heard cash falling and then saw a female with a gun in her hand pointed at the manager.   The suspect reportedly had demanded the money from the cash registers and what was in the manager’s office.

A Salem Police officer was close by and arrived within a minute and took Lewis into custody without incident.    She had apparently entered the same side door and had parked her car at the closed Pizza Hut restaurant parking lot.

The manager was found hiding in the freezer where she had set off a hold-up alarm.  There were no injuries.

Wendy’s apparently had closed earlier due to a lack of employees and was about to reopen when the armed robbery occurred.
