The Centers for Disease Control reports the number of new COVID-19 cases in Marion County dropped for the second week in a row. The COVID tracker reports 110 new cases for the week ending last Friday. The positivity rate is at 296 per 100,000, nearly three times over the 100 case mark that puts a county at the high level. There were 20 new hospitalizations last week, a drop of 35-percent. The CDC reports 53-percent of Marion County residents over 12 have had at least one vaccination and 43-percent are fully vaccinated.
Clinton County reported 65 new cases last week a drop of 11-percent. The rate of infection is at 173 per 100,000. There were no new hospitalizations.
Jefferson County had 124 new cases, a drop of 8-percent. The county’s rate of infection is at 329 per 100,000. There were 15 new hospitalizations, up 7-percent.
Washington County had 18 new cases up six percent. The rate of infection is at 130 per 100,000. There were no new hospitalizations.
Fayette County had 130 new cases, a drop of 17-percent from the prior week. Fayette County’s rate of infection is the highest in the region at 609 per 100,000 people. There were seven new hospitalizations, up 40-percent.
Clay County had 57 new cases, a drop of 36-percent. The rate of infection is at 432 per 100,000 people. There were nine new hospitalizations, up 20-percent.
Wayne County had 94 new cases, a 16-percent increase. the rate of infection is at 579 per 100,000. There were two new hospitalizations, a 60-percent decline.
Two of Illinois’ 102 counties have now dropped below an infection rate of 100 per 100,000 and are now in the significant category.
