A Centralia home was gutted by fire Saturday night.
Centralia City Firefighters say the occupant John Barton of 1024 South Elm had left to visit a friend several blocks away before the fire was discovered. By the time firemen arrived, flames were shooting out the windows. Firemen were able to keep the fire from breaking through the roof, but the entire interior of the single-story home received heavy damage.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
All available Centralia City Firemen were called to the scene.
The fire call came in at 8:30 Saturday night. Firemen were on the scene for about two hours. No injuries were reported.
