Julia Parkinson, 92, of Centralia passed away Sunday, September 25, 2022, at Fireside House in Centralia. She was born on September 22, 1930, the daughter of Valdy and Mary (Armstrong) Rowlett in New Concord, Kentucky. She married James Parkinson on April 12, 1951, in Corinth, Mississippi and he preceded her in death on February 8, 2011.
Survivors include her beloved family her son Dana Parkinson of Columbia, Illinois; granddaughter Ashley Parkinson of Godfrey, Missouri.
Along with her husband of 59 years, Julia was preceded in death by her parents; and her son James “Randy” Parkinson.
Julia was a loyal employee of Warren G. Murray Center in Centralia during her working years. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Centralia where she made great friendships. She will be remembered for her love of the game of baseball, and for cheering on her favorite team, the St. Louis Cardinals. Julia enjoyed traveling to Florida and soaking in the beautiful sunshine while visiting West Palm and Daytona Beaches. She always looked forward to reminiscing at the Armstrong family reunions. Julia’s most treasured times came from the moments she shared with her family. Julia will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 29, 2022, at the Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in rural Sandoval. Friends and relatives are welcome to a visitation time from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday at the funeral home in Centralia. Memorials may be made in Julia’s honor to First Baptist Church in Centralia and will be accepted for the family at the funeral home.
