Centralia High School has received approval for their $1.6-million ESSER (Elementary Secondary Emergency Relief ) grant.
He told the school board Monday night it will bring a number of technology improvements to the school as well as pay for other expenses.
“All kinds of neat stuff for classrooms, some new desks, new carpeting, all kinds of new technology. We’re paying for our nurses aides out of that, we’re paying for some new custodians. We ordered 40 flat-touch interactive panels, from ClearTouch, I should say, spread throughout our building. Just all kinds of new stuff for curriculum and ways to benefit our students, so we’re excited about having a grant get approved.”
Lane says the 2021-22 budget approved Monday night is also looking positive.
“We were able to get a budget passed tonight; we are predicting just over $200,000 surplus, although I cautioned the board that, well, the different kind of grants we have going on a lot depends on when things come in, when we order stuff, so we know that’s by the end of the year but I’m certain with the increase in state money we got this year and some new grants we should be looking at a pretty good year financially.”
In other action the board moved to: accept the letter of intent to retire from Lisa Foltz, secretary, effective June 30, 2025; employ Debra Weiss as part-time nurse assistant for the 2021-2022 school year; employ Marc Profancik as part-time custodian effective September 16, 2021; employ Daniel Laquet as part-time custodian effective September 27, 2021; employ Ben Alli as full-time annex aide effective 10/1/202; employ Christopher Beard as full-time individual annex aide effective 10/1/21.; and employ Eugene Weatherspoon as full-time annex security guard effective 10/4/21.
