Marion County Health Department reports 117 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday

The Marion County Health Department is reporting 117 new cases of COVID 19 on Wednesday.

The department reports none of the cases involved long term care residents. 12 were of school age. 17 o0f those testing positive for COVID were fully vaccinated.

The health department lists 101 of the cases as community spread and 16 as the result of household or close contacts.

There are now 652 active COVID-19 cases in Marion County. 25 of those are in the hospital and three are on ventilators.

SSM Health released its COVID-19 patient status for St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia and Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon. There are currently 50 hospitalized, with five of those vaccinated. 23 are in ICU or critical care and 15 are on ventilators. None of those in ICU or on ventilators had been vaccinated.

Since August 1st, the two hospitals have reported 22 COVID-19 deaths. 15 were not vaccinated and seven were vaccinated.
