The number of COVID-19 cases remains at “high” for the weekend ending Friday.
The Centers for Disease Control tracking system shows a total of 226 new COVID-19 cases and 43 new hospitalizations occurred in Marion County for the week
ending on Friday. Marion County’s infection rate was placed at 607 per 100,000 people, more than six times the level that puts the county in the “high” category.
On the positive side, the number of new cases was down 16-percent over the prior week. The CDC reports 42-percent of Marion County residents have had at least one vaccine and 33-percent are fully vaccinated.
Jefferson County reported 194 new cases and 26 new hospitalizations in the week ending last Friday. The county’s infection rate is 515-per 100,000 people. The
number of new cases were down 7-percent from the prior week.
Clinton County had 147 new cases and three hospitalizations. The rate of infection is at 391 per 100,000 people. Clinton County saw a 47-percent increase in cases for the past week.
Washington County reported 41 new cases during the past week and one new hospitalization. The number of cases fell 24-percent from the prior week. The
infection rate is at 295 per 100,000.
Clay County reported 110 new cases last week and 15 new hospitalizations. The infection rate is at 834 per 100,000. The number of cases is up 7-percent from
the prior week.
Wayne County had 111 new cases and 12 new hospitalizations. The number of new cases was up 23-percent from the prior week. The infection rate is at 685 per
100,000 people.
Fayette County reported 73 new cases and 14 new hospitalizations. The number of cases increased 49-percent over the prior week. The county’s rate of infection is 342 cases per 100,000.
All counties in the State of Illinois remain rate as “high” for number of COVID-19 cases with the exception of Carroll County in the north central part of the state.
