A 72-year-old Newton woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Illinois Route 33 in Effingham County late Friday night.
State Police say a preliminary investigation indicates Linda Miller was traveling westbound on Route 33 a mile east of Effingham County Road 1000N when she crossed the centerline and struck an oncoming SUV driven by 28-year-old Taylor Kerner of Newton.
Miller was transported to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. Kerner and a passenger in her vehicle did not report any injuries.
The roadway was closed for four and a half hours for crash investigation after the 10:19 Friday night crash.
