The Iuka Grade School has been placed on probation by the State Board of Education for not requiring students to wear masks while inside the school. Superintendent Sam Alli says the state board of education sent a letter late Friday announcing the probation.
A meeting has not yet been set to start the 60 day period the school district has to change their policy or face loss of accreditation.
Meanwhile, both Patoka and South Central School Boards held their meetings with the State Board of Education on Tuesday. That starts the 60 days they have to take corrective actions to put a mandatory masking policy into place.
Patoka Superintendent David Rademacher says their meeting took about 20 minutes where they were told board action and notification of parents of mandatory masking while indoors would be required in the next 60 days to avoid loss of accreditation and probable loss of funding. The high school and junior high sports
organizations are also not allowing schools on probation or with loss of accreditation to participate in any post-season competition.
The Patoka School Board is set to meet in special session at seven Thursday night to relook at their position on masking.
