The Marion County Health Department is reporting 75 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Health Department Administrator Melissa Mallow says of the new cases 70 are considered community spread and five from household or close contacts. Five of those testing positive were fully vaccinated. None of the cases were in long term care facilities. 10 are of school age. None are linked to the Salem factory outbreak.
The number in the hospital has jumped to 18. Four of those are on ventilators.
There are now 119 active cases in the county. Eighty-one others were released from quarantine over the two day period.
The Jefferson County Health Department is reporting the death of a male in his 60s from COVID-related causes. He was not vaccinated. There were 17 new cases on Wednesday.
Clinton County is reporting 84 cases in the week ending July 30th. 96 are currently on home isolation and two are hospitalized.
The Fayette County Health Department is reporting 22 new cases in the week ending August 1st.
