WJBD-WSIQ completes its preview of the ten candidates running to be the 2021 Miss Marion County Fair at Tuesday night’s pageant.

Maggie Telford is from Salem Illinois.  She graduated from Salem Community High School in 2020 and now attends Millikin University studying pre-law.  She explains how much she has enjoyed preparing for the pageant and how much she has enjoyed getting to know her fellow competitors.

“Spending time with all the girls, I love it so much.  We are always having fun getting ice cream, going to fairs, just becoming close with them is something I really like to do.”

Kaidyn Predium is from Salem Illinois.  This is her first time competing in the Pageant.  She is a graduate of Salem High School and will attend southern Illinois Edwardsville to study nursing in the Fall.  She reflects on the pageant preparation.

“Making friends with all of these girls because I have known them outside the pageant but it’s nice to get to know them a little bit more.”

Jasmin Tarlton from Sandoval Illinois is competing in the miss Marion County Fair Queen pageant.  Of all the events in the pageant, Jasmin says she looks forward most to the speech.

“I think the girls that you run with help with the confidence and helped build my confidence to do the pageant.”

Ryley Hammond is from Salem.   This is her second time competing in the Miss Marion County pageant.  She graduated from Salem High School in 2020 and now attends Kaskaskia College.  Ryley recalls all of the preparation for the pageant and feels most ready for the interview portion.

“I think that I really have the fair experience.  I literally grew up on these fairgrounds so I know everything about this and I feel like the fair queen really suits well as a fair person.”

Brylee Dukes is a 2020 Centralia High School graduate. She now studies nursing at Kaskaskia College. Brylee enjoys playing softball and spending time with family and friends.

The Marion County Fair Queen and Little Miss Pageant is set for seven Tuesday night in front of the grandstand. Lower Reserve seats are $12, Upper Center Reserved $10, and General Admission $8.
