Centralia Police arrested a 34-year-old Salem man on multiple charges following a brief chase early Friday morning. David Huffine Junior of East Church was arrested for alleged driving under the influence, resisting arrest, fleeing and attempting to elude police, and possession of adult-use cannabis in a motor vehicle. Police initially tried to stop Huffine at 3rd and Pine. He was eventually arrested four blocks away at 3rd and Leafland.
50-year-old Tammie Smith of South Jefferson in Wamac was arrested by Wamac Police on a Marion County traffic warrant. Bond is set at $2,500.
Two others posted bond and were released. 23-yea-rold Jordan Lippert of South Franklin in Salem posted $500 bond on a Clinton County felony warrant for failure to report a change of address or employer. 45-year-old Matthew Becker of County Farm Road in Salem posted $250 bond on a Marion County misdemeanor warrant for failure to appear on a pending retail theft charge.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a burglary at Simpson Automotive on East Poplar in Odin. A cash box was stolen after entry was gained by removing a window air conditioner sometime late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning.
