A 17-year-old Salem female juvenile was injured in a pickup truck crash on the Quail Run Road a half mile west of Kinmundy Road in rural Salem late Tuesday afternoon.
Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies say the juvenile was westbound on the recently oiled and chipped surface when she got too far off the side of the road, overcorrected, lost controlled, hit the ditch, and rolled. The pickup came to a stop back on its wheels, partially on the road.
The juvenile was able to get out of the vehicle on her own. She was initially taken to Salem Township Hospital and then transferred to a St. Louis Hospital for treatment.
The driver told deputies the incident occurred after an oncoming vehicle did not move over to give her enough room. The crash occurred at 4:55 Tuesday evening.
