Heavy thunderstorms dumped large amounts of rain and produced spectacular lightning strikes early Sunday morning.
Odin Firemen, with automatic mutual aid assistance from Salem, responded to a possible lightning strike at the Bonnie Holland home at 2441 Texas Road off Green Street Road in rural Odin.
Odin Fire Chief Greg Smith says while items were knocked off the walls and there was a smell of smoke in the home, no actual lightning strike could be found. He reports firemen checked throughout the house as well as on the roof and foundation.
The fire call came in at 7:04 Sunday morning with firemen on the scene for about an hour.
The Salem Water Plant recorded 1.31 inches of rain from the storm system through seven Sunday morning. The Centralia Water Treatment Plant had 55-hundredths of an inch.
A flood advisory was posted through 8:30 Sunday morning due to localized flooding that occurred from the heavy thunderstorms.
