Clinton County Sheriff’s officials say two people were airlifted to a St. Louis Hospital Tuesday afternoon after their vehicle missed the stop sign on Boulder Road and ran into the side of an eastbound dump truck on U.S. 50.

Sheriff Dan Travious says the vehicle that ran the stop sign was driven by 82-year-old Walter Rowland of Moro.   The dump truck was driven by 66-year-old Steven Ackermann of Jefferson Street in Sandoval.  The impact of the collision caused the dump truck loaded with asphalt to roll over on its side.

Rowland was transported from the scene by medical helicopter to a St. Louis Hospital.  A passenger was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese where she was also airlifted to a St. Louis Hospital.   Deputies say they have not yet been provided her name.

Ackermann was not injured.

The crash occurred at 12:13 Tuesday afternoon.
