The Iuka Grade School Board has approved its Back to School Plan.

Superintendent Sam Alli says they will follow CDC guidance and recommend all non-fully vaccinated persons to wear masks. However, it will not be mandated.

Alli says the district will begin the school year with students going full days five days a week. The only remote learning will be for those quarantined due to COVID-19.

Alli says they will spread out students for lunch, using both the cafeteria and a nearby open foyer area.

He notes the plan is fluid and subject to change depending on COVID-19 conditions in the area.

Alli says the school district is looking for a part-time dean of students to supervise students and handle some discipline. Iuka Grade School residents are reminded school registration will be held at the school on July 26th from 8 am to 3 pm and on July 27th from noon to seven.

A Back to School Party is planned for the Salem Aquatic Center on Sunday night, August first, at eight pm. Teachers will report to work for the new school year on August 16th. An open house for parents will be held that evening at five pm. The first day of school for students will be August 17th.
