The Centralia Planning Commission has cleared the way for three new businesses to operate in the city.
Wayne Transfer was successful in getting the Centralia Moose building at 1824 South Poplar rezoned from highway arterial to light industrial. Community Development Director Gayla Harting says the trucking company has purchased the Moose Lodge and plans to use it for loading and storage. They are currently located in an adjoining building.
Kelly Fox was granted permission to operate a tow truck business from the former Knights of Columbus building at 1825 South Pine. He will be required to provide privacy fencing in the area that vehicles will be stored.
The commission also approved a special use permit for Christina Snyder to operate a storefront bakery business at 101 South Lincoln. Snyder started the business over the internet and has now outgrown her home.
At Harting’s recommendation, the city revoked a special use permit for Travis Myers to operate a used car business at 1212 North Elm. Harting reported the business has fallen into disrepair. Myers currently has nine pending ordinance violation tickets for activity at the business.
