The Salem Community Theatre comes back to life with its first performance since COVID-19 shut down operations in March of 2020.

The Marvelous Wonderettes will be performed on Friday and Saturday night at seven, with a three pm matinee on Sunday.   The same showtimes are planned for next weekend.

Janet Broom is directing the show.

“The play is about a group of four young ladies who come together to sing in Andrew Sister style first set in 1958.  They have a little storyline but sing songs from 1958 in the first half.  In the second half, they are back for their 10-year high school reunion and singing songs from the 60s and performing together again,” said Brom.

One of the four Wonderettes is Morgan Henry of Louisville who is happy to be back on stage after earlier performances in high school and college.

“In the first act, we are supposed to be about 18 about to graduate from high school.  So 50s, very fun dresses, different hair and the 60s we’re ten years old, we’re adults and living adult lives.  We have different dresses, we have these lovely go-go boots and our hair is a lot bigger in the second act than the first act,” said Henry.

The other Wonderetts are Betty Jean played by Amber Lynn Pease, Suzy played by Ashtyn Williams and Cindy Lou played by Kathwren Robertson.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for children.  Tickets are available at Salem City Hall or prior to each show.
