The Marion County Health Department is reporting 42 new cases of COVID-19 over the past five days beginning on Saturday.
Health Department Administrator Melissa Mallow says during the reporting period, a Salem factory had an outbreak of unvaccinated employees and there was a high number of household transmissions. In all, there were 20 cases considered community spread and 22 as a result of household or close contact. None of the cases were in long-term care residents. Nine cases were reported in school-age children, but none of the students were attending class at the time.
There are now 45 active cases in Marion County, including five who are hospitalized and 40 on home isolation. There were no new deaths during the five-day period. Positive cases were reported in two boys and five girls under 13, four in their teens up to two females in their 70s to one in their 90s.
The Jefferson County Health Department is reporting ten new cases on Wednesday and 52 in the last seven days. There are currently 41 on isolation.
The Clinton County Health Department is reporting nine new cases for the week ending last Friday. Nine are in isolation and one is reported hospitalized.
The Fayette County Health Department is reporting five new cases over the week ending on Monday.
