Spotty heavy thunderstorms crossed South Central Illinois again on Sunday morning.
The Salem Water Plant received an additional 94-hundreths of an inch of rain to bring the three day total of rain since the storms began to 3.25 inches. The Salem Reservoir was 2.9-inches over the spillway as of seven Monday morning, not high enough to cause any concern.
The Centralia Water Plant missed most of the Sunday rain activity, with just 15-hundreths of an inch of rain of additional rainfall for the 24 hour period ending at seven Monday morning.
Centralia’s three day rain total is 2.44 inches. One gate of Raccoon Lake was opened six inches on Sunday to get rid of excess water.
Storms early Saturday morning and again early Saturday night prompted severe thunderstorm warnings and some downed trees and tree limbs and resulted in some roads temporarily flooding. No significant power outages were reported.
