Severe thunderstorms early Saturday morning dumped heavy rains and had strong wind gusts that downed several trees and numerous tree limbs.

Salem Police say the storm broke one electric pole and caused a second across Oak Park Drive to lean, but no power lines came down.  Both Salem Police and Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies reported several tree limbs down.  A downed tree did bring down a power line on Euclid Street in Iuka.

There have been no reports of any building damage.

When the National Weather Service issued the severe thunderstorm warning, they said the storms were capable of wind speeds of 70 miles per hour.

Salem and Centralia received almost identical amounts of rain from the early morning storms.  1.16 inches in Salem and 1.17 inches in Centralia.
