AFSCME Council 31 Director Roberta Lynch has joined State of Illinois Department of Human Services Secretary Grace Hou to urge employees of Murray Developmental Center to get vaccinated before Tuesday, July 13th. That will make them eligible for prize drawings just for IDHS employees at State 24/7 facilities.
The prizes include $10,000 in cash, two drawings for $5,000, a pair of round-trip American Airlines tickets to anywhere in the world AA flies, Bears, Cubs, and Cardinals tickets, and lifetime fishing and hunting licenses among other prizes.
Lynch says the union welcomes the incentive to encourage everyone to protect themselves, their families, and their communities by getting vaccinated. She says safe and highly effective, the vaccines are the road back to normalcy, especially for employees of congregate facilities where the risk of viral spread is great.
IDPH officials note vaccines are widely available at no cost to all Illinois residents and state employees, including onsite, every day at the State Developmental Centers and Psychiatric Hospitals.
