The Marion County Health Department is reporting 10 new cases of COVID-19 cases on Thursday and Friday.

Of the ten new cases, seven are considered community spread and three are the results of household contacts.  Two of the positives are in school-age children, but they are not in summer school.  None are in long-term care centers.

There are now 24 active cases, including three who are in the hospital and 21 on home isolation.    Nine were released from isolation during the two-day period.

The number of deaths in the county remains at 120 and total number of cases since the pandemic began is at 4,565.

Statewide, 2,945 new cases were reported in the past week ending Friday.  53 more deaths have been reported.

The state reports 72-percent of Illinois adults have received at least one vaccine dose and 57-percent are fully vaccinated.   In Marion County, 30.7-percent of the population or 11,550 people are now fully vaccinated

The statewide positivity rate is now at 1.5-percent for the past seven days.  The positivity rate in Marion County has jumped up to 4.1-percent.
